2024 Strawberry Shortcake Social

The annual Strawberry Shortcake Social was held at the Larson House from 1 to 5 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2024.  Free tours of the beautifully restored Victorian home, outdoor games, lemonade, root beer floats, hot dogs and that incomparable strawberry shortcake using hand-picked fresh strawberries, were all featured.Not only did hundreds of guests enjoy the best ever dessert but the entertainment line-up was outstanding.

  • The Subterranean Jazz Project played jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, along with funk, blues, pop and anything else that might bring joy to their audience.

 

  • Blue Skies Saxophone Ensemble consists of six friends who enjoy playing music together and sharing it with others in the McFarland and surrounding areas.  Their repertoire includes a broad variety of jazz, classical, religious, holiday, period and popular selections.

 

  • Corey and Shauna Bauhs, a local husband and wife, singer songwriter duo joined us again this year. Both are native to McFarland and living currently in Cambridge, Wisconsin. Corey and Shauna both share a love of storytelling through the song, you’ll hear some of the classics from Johnny Cash and John Prine, to Creedance Clearwater Revival, mixed with some original music with a soulful folk feel.

 

  • Finally, did you know that the first draft of Romeo and Juliet was actually NOT a tragedy?  Guests were treated to a condensed version of the first draft of this immortal work by William Shakespeare.
